The Art of Seduction book review

The Art of Seduction by Robert Greene is one those books that are rare, sinister, but contains necessary insight. It is about how to seduce anyone politically, socially and even sexually. Seduction is a psychological game, mostly it  has nothing to do with physical beauty. It teaches you how to look at the world through the eyes of a seducer. Personally it teaches me how to avoid or be aware of the lures used in seduction.

Seduction starts with you, be aware of  yourself and what is seductive about you. Secondly  understand your targets and things that will help you penetrate their minds and finally create surrender. The following are different types of seducers mentioned in the book, from this you can choose which you would like to be. They are originally 9 types, but I have only selected a few that stood out for me.

Types of seducers.

• The siren (which usually is a woman) uses  image and tease lures to seduce her target. She knows how to use her sex appeal and appear very feminine. Sirens invoke desire by using clothes and make-up in a stylist way. Although her beauty may not be perfect or complete, she magnifies what is positive about her. She looks pure, but dangerous. Her only downfall is that beauty fades and  can't carry the way of a siren anymore.

• Rakes are men who are a females fantasy figure. Rakes are also similar to what you call a player, hence they love everything about women. They do not apologise for their past and they're loved, because women want what other women have. Since women like to fix things , they act broken and seem vulnerable to women. Most rakes can get away with anything even cheating.

• Ideal lovers would study their target and adopt to the their moods, they would also go along with what ever the target wants. Their purpose is to find their targets needs and fulfil them. They make their targets feel like life is better when they're around  by bringing out their ideal qualities and that's how their target falls in love with them.

• Dandies are all about presentation, they are full of confidence. They lure targets with exactly what they want. Dandies look well groomed and have grace in their  movements hence, they also seem controlled in manner. They play an unattainable image and never try to please anyone, which makes them even more attractive. 

• Coquettes delay satisfaction, which keeps the target hooked. They are emotionally hot and cold, their behaviour can affect their targets emotions as well. Most coquettes are independent, because they are narcissistic. They act like this because any conquest that is easy has lower value then a difficult one.This qualities makes them attractive, since people like what they can't have.

Keys to seduction.

• Choose the right victim, know who to seduce and who not to waste time on. Avoid those  who are emotionally unavailable or too busy. You have to do screening to find out if they are the right victim by learning their interests and whom they interact with.
• Create a false sense of security by  approaching indirectly.  Appear distant and uninterested, don't  put all your cards on the table meaning don't reveal your intentions. 
• Send mixed signals by being mysterious, there is nothing more seductive then this.
• Appear to be an object of desire.
• Create a need for your presence. Make it seem like when you are around you can fix all their problems.
• Create temptation, find a weakness and make it look like you can fulfil it.
• Keep them in suspense. Leave them to wonder what comes next and do something they don't expect.
• Make yourself look vulnerable, so they feel superior.
• Find out about their childhood and then proceeded to investigate what they lacked, but always wanted, and give it to them.
• Mix pleasure with pain by being surprisingly uninterested this stirs anxiety.
• Beware of the after effects.  No one wants to know they are being manipulated , they will start to resent you.

Finally, when trying to pursue someone know that they are worth pursuing first and don't settle for less. You should be able to get rid of the notion that says he or she is out of my league or I'm not good enough for him or her that is called limiting belief.  Don't be intimidated by how attractive or beautiful a person is, because beauty fades. What is important is values that are not determined by looks or the bank account, therefore this should not take away from the fact that you still need to take care of yourself. People secretly love to be seduced especially by a master because of the tension, thrill and adventure. Be the unattainable image that everyone wants and invoke suspense and mystery.
